Why Olive Young Blocked US Shoppers
Olive Young opened its first US physical store in Pasadena California and launched a dedicated US online store. As a legal entrant to the US market it is now subject to US distribution rules. These include FDA rules for cosmetics and OTC products like sunscreens.
Allowing parallel imports from the Korean site would undercut its US business and create regulatory headaches. Blocking direct access was a business decision and not a technical glitch.
3 Ways to Still Get Korean Products Shipped to the US
1. Use a Korean Package Forwarding Service
With forwarding you buy the item yourself and have the seller deliver it to a Korean address the service provides. Then the service forwards the parcel on to you. It works for any Korean store that accepts your order in the first place.
Forwarding still works for stores that accept a Korean address at checkout. It does not solve the Olive Young problem on its own. The Korean site now rejects the order before shipping is ever involved. You also need someone in Korea to place the order.
